Teri Freitas Gorman, Associate

Teri is a seasoned communications professional with executive level experience in USA and abroad. Born on Maui of multi-ethnic heritage, she mastered the complexities of intercultural communication at a young age.

Teri has over 20 years experience in communications and public relations, corporate communications, community engagement and cultural tourism. After graduating from UCLA and working in the Netherlands as a publicist, her arts career began at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center and took her to the Aotea Centre in Auckland, New Zealand and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

She returned to Hawai‘i in 2005 to become Vice President of Corporate Communications for Maui Land & Pineapple Co., Inc.  Today she owns Maluakamaka Consulting, a boutique firm offering communications, community engagement, facilitation, and nonprofit planning services. Each fall, she teaches Communications for the First Nations Futures Fellowship Program at Stanford University. She is also a regular lecturer in Community Engagement and Cultural Diplomacy for the Janklow Arts Leadership Program at Syracuse University.
